OUR EFFORTS
Discover the initiatives Reitmans (Canada) Limited has been taking to be the most responsible version of ourselves, both in-office and on the racks.
Plastic
Our Reitmans stores carry reusable shopping bags
in recycled polyester and 100% cotton, and we
strongly encourage our customers to reuse their own
when possible.
Carbon Neutral Shipping
We're excited to partner with Canada Post
and employ their carbon neutral services for
all our online orders.
Packaging
The materials used in our online packaging
are made of recycled post-consumer content and
are recyclable.
Head Office
We've eliminated the need for single-use plastic
bottles by revamping our water fountains. Our
cafeteria is stocked with compostable cups,
cutlery, and take-out containers. We've also
reduced paper waste by implementing our
Printer Optimization Project.
Paper
We successfully eliminated packing
slips in e-commerce orders in the final quarter of 2023.
This change represents a savings of over 4.2 million
sheets of paper annually.
Recycling
Partnering with once-used box distributor Rebox for
internal shipments has led to a net reduction of carbon
dioxide emissions of 1,865 tonnes and allowed
us to save 6.1 million gallons of water in 2024.
Our Initiatives
Celebrating the Earth in 2025
At Reitmans, we know change starts with us. Every day is a new opportunity to have a positive impact through everything we do, both in our efforts at home and with our year-round initiatives and campaigns.
This year, we're excited to work with non-profit organization Tree Canada once again to aid in their tree planting efforts with a $10,000 donation. Together, we pledge to plant another 4 000 trees thanks to their continued partnership with Natural Resource Canada's 2 Billion Trees Program.
We're proud to partner with Tree Canada once again in our ongoing journey toward a more responsible future.
