How To Better Treat
Your Clothing



WASH
  • Do not let clothing get too dirty before washing.
  • Always have the clothes aired and dried prior to washing.
  • Empty the pockets, unfasten the buttons and lift the collar before washing.
  • Do not overload the washer.
  • Do not wash at very hot temperature.

HAND WASH
  • In the first few washes the colours may bleed, therefore the garments should be washed alone.
  • Always use cold water and do not leave soaking.
  • Allow the soap or detergent to totally dissolve before adding the garment.
  • Do not rub garment, gently squeeze.
  • Rinse thoroughly.

DRYING
  • Fold the heavy garments so they do not get wrinkled.
  • Do not expose the clothes to direct sunlight or heavy winds, especially if they are coloured.
  • If drying indoors make sure the area is well ventilated.
  • Knit garments should be wrapped with a towel, and laid on a flat surface, away from sun and heat.
  • Some garments tend to deform, reshape and lay flat to dry.

BLEACHING
  • Before adding bleach, first read care instruction on label.
  • Bleach in cold water only and let soak for a maximum of one hour.
  • Do not use metal receptacle.

IRONING
  • Follow ironing instructions of garment label. Iron at low temperature. Garment should be slightly damp when ironing.

Your Fabrics



NATURAL FABRICS

Wool
Will deform if washed at very hot temperature and it deforms if hung to dry.
Advantages: Good thermal material, and great absorbent power.
Inconveniences: Tends to turn yellow.

Cotton
Will shrink if washed at very hot temperature.
It must be washed alone the first time.
Advantages: Fresh and flexible material. High resistance to rubbing.
Inconveniences: Discolours easily and tends to wrinkle.

Linen
Must always be hand washed, no tumble dry.
Do not wash at very hot temperature. Resistant to ironing.
Advantages: Fresh and smooth material.
Inconveniences: Strong tendency to wrinkle.

Silk
Do not wash at very hot temperature. No tumble dry.
Resisting stains must be treated by a professional.
Must not be steam ironed, and if ironed it must be at low temperature.



ARTIFICIAL FABRICS
Acetate, Rayon and Viscose

In order to preserve the form of the garment it must not be tumble dried.
Advantages: Has a silky smooth material, and it maintains its colour.
Inconveniences: Flammable and gets static.



SYNTHETIC FABRICS
Polyester, Nylon, Etc.

Sensitive to heat. Must be washed in warm water and ironed with no steam at low temperature.
Advantages: Very resistant. Very few wrinkles. Keeps its colour.
Inconveniences: Highly flammable and gets static.


  WASHING
Hand wash or machine wash.
The number indicates the maximum temperature to wash.
A short line under indicates to soak only

  BLEACHING
Chlorine bleach may be used.
Do not use chlorine.
IRONING
Hot 200C / 410F
Warm 160C / 320F
Cool 120C / 248F
Do not iron
  DRY CLEANING
Dry clean in any solvent.
Dry clean in any solvent except trichlorethylene.
Use flurocarbon or petroleum solvent only.
A short line under any of the above indicates reduced cycle, moisture and/or heat.
Do not dry clean.
  DRYING
Tumble dry high heat.
Tumble dry low heat.
Drip dry. Hang soaking wet.
Hang to dry after removing excess water.
Lay flat to dry.
